Maintain the heating network in good time.

A pump that starts to sound different. A return temperature creeping up in one block. The warnings are almost always there. Disecta Decision brings them together and suggests what to fix first.

A long business with thin margins

District heating provides just over half of all heating in Sweden's buildings and heats 90 % of apartment buildings. The networks have to last for decades: Energiföretagen's members alone had 24,900 km of district heating pipes in 2021.

At the same time, margins are under pressure. Energiföretagen's review of the industry shows essentially a zero result in both 2023 and 2024, as the costs of fuel, operations and investment rose faster than revenue. So every krona spent on maintenance has to do as much good as possible, and a breakdown in the middle of winter is one you can't afford.

Sources for the figures: Energiföretagen (Swedish energy companies' association), Budskapsplattform för fjärrvärmen (March 2026), and Energiåret 2021 for the network length, both in Swedish.

What's hard today

  • Leaks found late. Every day costs water and energy, and a small leak can end with a pipe that has to be dug up.
  • Equipment that wears out quietly. Pumps, fans and valves give signs long before they fail. But the signs aren't always numbers in a system.
  • Poor cooling at customers. A substation with a high return temperature makes the whole network less efficient. The problem shows in the network, but the cause sits with a single customer.
  • Price dialogue needs a basis. Explaining a price change is easier when you can show what drives the costs.

More than numbers: sound and text in the same analysis

Much of what reveals a problem in district heating isn't in a table. It's the sound of a bearing starting to wear, an acoustic measurement along a pipe, an operator who wrote "sounds strange" in the log.

You get an earlier warning of what is about to fail, and which action should come first. Disecta Decision weighs in sound and notes together with temperatures, flows and alarms, and compares them with what happened last time.

Decision proposal

Replace the bearing in pump P3 at the heating plant within two weeks.

The sound has changed since early October, in the same way as before the pump failure two winters ago. The operations log notes the same.

What you get

  • Act before it becomes a breakdown. Worn pumps and leaks are found while you can still plan the replacement.
  • Find the customers pulling down the cooling. A list of the substations to visit first, with the reason for each.
  • Prioritise maintenance on the whole picture. Meter data, sound, inspections and experience weighed together, even when they sit in different systems.
  • Show what drives the costs. A basis for the price dialogue that traces back to its source.
  • Follow up the effect. Did the return temperature drop after the visit? Set a date and see.

Alongside the systems you already have

Disecta Decision works with your control and monitoring system, maintenance system, customer system and GIS, and replaces none of them. The AI only sees what the person asking has the right to see, and a person reviews and decides. Read about security and data protection.
